I encountered a few problems while working on the controversy essay. In the beginning I thought it would be easy. I thought to myself  “ three controversies is easy to find, I don’t really have to worry to much about this easy”. I was completely wrong and should have given more attention on writing the essay than I did. The first problem I encountered was trying to find a good controversy related to science. I didn’t know what I wanted to write about till a few days before the assignment was due. I should have ask the professor for help, but I didn’t take advantage of his offer to help students who were having trouble with the essay. If I were to seize that opportunity my essay would have probably been written better. 

Another problem I faced while writing the essay was finding enough information to explain the scientist opinions and the public’s opinion. It was a bit hard trying to find three. It wasn’t as hard to find the first two opinions I presented, but the third one was a hassle to find and explain. I feel like I don’t provide enough information for the third opinion I wrote about in my essay. I also should have provided more specific background information regarding addiction. For example, what type of addictions are there and how does it affect the brain. 

Although I did encounter a few problems the controversy essay did give me a little more knowledge on the topic of addiction. It also made me realize that I do what to pursue a career in the medical field. I found the controversies quite interesting and I was able to understand why both sides have certain opinions on the topic of addiction. 

Next time, on my revision of the controversy essay, I will definitely add more specific details and background information. I will work on my transition words, which I really didn’t use as much as I should have in my final essay. Also I will explain what some of the terms stand for or mean, because I realized there were a few words I failed to identify which may have left my audience a bit confused.
